This Week in BSU: April 7 - April 12

On Wednesday, April 10, 2013, BSU joined with the Mu Epsilon chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. at the Institute of Black Culture for a Melting Pot event. At this event, there were a variety of foods from various countries around the world, each represented by a different fraternity or sorority. It was an opportunity for people to network, try new foods and meet new friends. The event brought out a large number of people and made people more aware of the resources and various cultures available to them.

Also, this week in BSU was the last general body meeting of the semester. Started From the Bottom: Claiming Your Leadership Path, which took place on Thursday, April 11, 2013, hosted a panel of seven graduating seniors who conducted an interactive session which included topics ranging from academics to Greek life and so much more. The panel began the session by mentioning things that they were rejected from. This enabled them to send the message that just because you get knocked down doesn’t mean you can’t rise and be successful. Attendees were able to chime in using the hashtag “BSUstarted” in order to give their opinions and show their support. Some quotes that stood out from the panel were "People who are involved have low GPA’s; Leaders maintain excellence." as well as "Student leaders are STUDENTS first!" The meeting drew a great, interactive crowd, giving BSU a lot of momentum heading into the summer.

That’s all from This Week in BSU! We look forward to seeing you all in the fall. Remember, it’s just BS without U!
